Items like soy sauce, sesame oil, and hoisin sauce can be stored in the fridge to last for months. And you can use them in Szechuan spiced chicken, sesame chicken, teriyaki chicken and even Pad Thai!

How to Make Low Calorie Szechuan Chicken

You can easily make this chicken schezwan recipe mild, medium, or hot!

For mild, skip the chillies, for mild make as is, and for hot add an addition 10 peppers.

Special Tip:If you don’t like spicy food, just skip the dried red chilies. It will still be a yummy dish, but without all the heat!

How to Make Low Calorie Szechuan Chicken:

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the chicken, corn starch, salt and pepper. Toss to coat well.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium high heat, and spray with olive oil.
  3. Add the chicken to the hot pan and cook until lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Remove to a plate (may not be fully cooked yet).
  4. Add the onion, bell peppers, and chillies to the pan and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  5. While the veggies cook, add all of the Szechuan Chicken Sauce to a medium bowl and mix together.
  6. To the veggies, add the garlic and ginger along with the chicken and any juices on the plate.
  7. Pour in the Szechuan Chicken Sauce and bring to a simmer.
  8. Cook for 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens and the chicken is completely cooked.
  9. Serve hot, over rice, or alone as a low carb Chinese Chicken Dinner.
